MP3 players built into jackets, internet sites where you can design your own clothes... You can already see the effect today's technology is having on fashion. So we asked our BT futurologist, Ian Pearson, what he thinks will be next:

Clothes will get a life of their own
Soon we'll be wearing jumpers that can generate power, either by solar power, or in electromagnetic, thermal or mechanical ways. And we'll be able to store music and videos in our actual trousers (not just in the pockets).

Our clothes will interact with our surroundings
There could soon be microchips in buildings, furniture, packaging and even food. These could all interact with chips woven into our clothes.

Designs themselves won't be affected
Because microchips are so small, fashion designers will be able to add gadgets and electronic devices to clothes without needing to change the designs.

We'll make our own clothes
A funny throwback to years gone by, but thanks to cheap production and design software, more and more of us are going to get into it.

Beauty will still be in the eye of the beholder
But not as you might imagine. High-tech contact lenses already make it possible to scan images onto our retinas. If this becomes mainstream, we'll be able to superimpose computer-generated images onto what we see in the real world, including images of each other. So fashion designers will need to design virtual fashions. And we'll have to worry about our digital appearance as well as our physical one.

Spice Girls - Headlines

Here's the world premiere of the new Spice Girls music video for their brand NEW single "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)". The girls shot the video two weeks ago at the Pinewood Studios in London. Headlines is the lead single from their upcoming "Greatest Hits" album which will be available in digital and physical format later in this month. Well, this ballad song was really okay for me until i saw the vid! Def. one GREAT music video! All of them look amazing, especially Geri who shows some wow abs. But the most cool thing is of course to see them, all 5, together in a video singing again. I'll be definitely playing more this song now. Enjoy

Abhiash: Honey Moon & Bday

It can’t be anything by destiny. Aishwarya Rai who will be playing Mumtaz Mahal in Ben Kingsley’s film on the Taj Mahal, brought in her birthday 34th birthday in Agra with her real-life Shah Jehan.

“You make it sound so dramatic and romantic,” speaking on the eve of her birthday Aishwarya’s girlish laughter remains the same. “It’s nothing like that. I’m bringing it in with Abhishek, Ma and Pa.

Abhishek was shooting an ad in Agra on Wednesday. So I joined him with Ma (mom-in-law Jaya Bachchan). And now Pa (father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan) has also joined us.

So you could say it’s a perfect birthday by the Taj Mahal, though not quite AT the Taj Mahal—have you seen the crowds over there?—we can’t risk going to the Taj Mahal, but a stone’s throw away. Today (November 1) I’m heading back home. It’s a pity my parents couldn’t join us here in Agra.”

On Nov 1, her birthday Aishwarya was on top of the world. “My birthday in Agra was just tooooooo special. Someone up there has answered all my prayers.”

It’s been a hectic time for Aishwarya. “I came back from the US from shooting Pink Panther in time for Karwa Chauth. God knows how the tv cameras got our shots, probably from neighbour’s premise….We’re just leading our lives normally. I don’t know why or how the press has this hunger to know about us.”

She laughs, “This is my first birthday after marriage and therefore a very special occasion. But that apart, you know me. Spending time with the people I love is my greatest joy. I’m in a very happy place. And I don’t mean Agra.

Just being with three people who mean so much to me makes my life complete. God has been kind. There’s great fulfillment in love and in being loved, by not just my husband but his parents who are now my parents. We’re one family and we all love one another.”

After her marriage the glow on her face would make the sunglass industry thrive. That laughter again. “Well if you say I glow, it’s the glow of happiness.I couldn’t have asked for more.”

She’ll be heading straight to Karjat after her birthday for the last two days’ shooting of Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodha-Akbar.

She’s excited about doing the Taj Mahal film with Ben Kingsley. “On the first day of shooting The Last Legion with him he walked up to me he said, ‘I’ve this idea.’ And he told me about the Shah Jehan-Mumtaz Mahal film that he’d like to do.

You know, how many Taj Mahal scripts have come my way. I told Ben there have been many occasions when this subject has come to me. But there was something exceptionally interesting about the way he approached the subject.

And yes, the whole process of discussing the subject with him was participative. After The Last Legion I kind of put it in the back of my mind. But earlier this year he confirmed it was on.”

At the moment it’s Jodha-Akbar that occupies Aishwarya’s mind. “You know me. Once I get into a subject I’m totally into it. But yes, I’m looking forward to working with Sir Ben again.”

What does she want for her birthday? She thinks a while and says, “Just blessings and good wishes. Apart from that God has given me everything.”

Ash won’t do item no. even for Abhi

Ash is turning out to be a really docile Bahu for Bachchan clan.

Gone are her Dhoom 2 days when she flaunted skin with an aplomb. We hear that queen bee have been regularly rejecting offers on the grounds of excessive exposure including the one from Karan johar.

And now the buzz is Ash has refused an item number even in Goldie Behl’s ‘Drona’ which stars her husband Abhishek in the lead role.

Behl had plans to rope in Ash for an item number in the film though Priyanka Chopra is the lead heroine for Drona.

But Ash reportedly put down both the director and her hubby.

Considering the fact that Ash’s kitty is now filled with some prestigious projects and international films like Pink Panther 2, it is not surprising that the former Miss World quietly refused the offer from Behl rendering more importance to her individual career than wanting to add zing to Abhishek’s film.

Goldie and Abhishek have now reportedly approached Bipasha Basu for the item number.

Sonam Kapoor gets a special hug

While Ranbir & Sonam, the newest Kapoors on the horizon, danced to their film Saawariya’s title track and delighted the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa …audiences, there was an admirer of Sonam who was watching her from among the audience.

No sooner the lady got an opportunity she ran across, grabbed Sonam and hugged her to the embarrassment of the anchor Mona Singh.

Yes, it was Mona’s mom who simply could not resist her feelings and fondness for the young star. And if this was not enough the blushing Mona was told by Sonam that she loved Jassi Jaise… and is a great fan of the actress.

Maldives - the sunny side of the world

The islands of Maldives persuade tourists with promises of 'the last paradise on earth', and if your idea of paradise is white sand beaches with turquoise waters glistening, tropical gardens exploding in beautiful color and picture perfect sunsets igniting the sky, then the Maldives will never let you down. It's also a major destination for scuba divers, who come for the magnificent coral reefs and the wealth of marine life.

Ptolemy, the Greek geographer describes the Maldives as a multitude of islands. Ancient Chinese navigators, referring to the maze of lagoons and reefs that require great care in navigation, knew it as the Three Thousand Weak Waters. Marco Polo, the Venetian traveler, found the islands to be "the flower of the Indies". For Ibn Batuta, who traveled extensively during the 14th century and actually lived on the islands, the Maldives was "one of the wonders of the world".

It is believed that these unique coral atolls were formed about 65 to 200 million years ago from the crust of a deceased volcanic mountain range. The atolls (the word atoll was adapted to English from its Maldivian origin "atholhu") are formed from coral barrier reefs. The part of the reefs which protrude from the sea form into islands, as destroyed coral parts gather thus giving them the attribute of white sandy beaches. Having being protected by the reefs, the lagoons are calm and crystal-clear with abundant species of fish and coral.
